2020 Vision: See Your Home Buying Clearly This Year
It’s finally here. The new Roaring 20s. This time around, we can see clearly with 2020 vision if we want to. Is your 2020 vision looking into the New Year? How have you prepared for your financial health and everything it will take to buy your new home here in the Bay Area? Here are a few things to keep in mind that will help you see clearly in 2020.
Get Your Financials in Place
Step one, if you want to improve your financial picture for the New Year, create a budget. There are infinite ways to form a budget, so you have to do what works best for you. One popular way today is zero-balance budgeting. We’ve talked about it before, but it means that every dollar you bring in is given a job. Every time you’re paid, you allocate money to a variety of categories like rent, utilities, entertainment, and savings.
There are even apps that can help, like You Need a Budget. It’ll create the virtual envelopes for you to track your spending. If you don’t have enough money in your entertainment budget, you’ll need to decide if that extra day out is worth taking money from somewhere else or not. It really does make the process fun and simple.
Manage Your Debt
One of the biggest factors for individuals who want to buy a home is their debt levels. Whether it’s student loan debt or consumer credit card debt, you need to have a handle on what you owe, to whom, and when.
For example, if you’re struggling with credit card debt, take time now to assess your cards. Look at highest interest along with the balance. Make a plan to start paying the card with the highest interest rate off first and then move on. Always pay more than the minimum due.
These are just simple ideas to get you started. You may also want to talk to a financial professional to ensure that you’re on the right track for you.
Your Checklist for Finding the Right Home in California
